Simon Goodyear lives in Warwickshire and is a life-long Aston Villa fan who is the son of the late, David Goodyear, well-known author of 13 football and cricket books, including ‘Aston Villa – The Complete Record 1874 – 1992’ and books about cricketers David Gower, Graham Gooch and Dennis Amiss.
Simon decided that he would fulfil his father’s desire to write a biography of his boyhood footballing hero, Gerry Hitchens, shortly after his father sadly passed away in October 2008.
He had never attempted to write a book before but this didn’t stop him dedicating his spare time to the cause and the result is s truly wonderful biography of a ‘proper’ footballer, a rags-to-riches’ journey from working in a mine to playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world in the late 1950s and 1960s.
Simon has plans to continue writing and a few ideas have been talked about so watch this website for updates. |
